Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how OhBuddy.ai (“OhBuddy”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use the OhBuddy.ai website, applications, and services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you consent to the practices described here. This Policy is published in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011, and the principles of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
1. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to provide the Service:
- Account information — such as your name and email address when you sign up.
- Content you create — your chat messages, the AI companions you create, and their descriptions and settings.
- Payment information — when you buy a plan or top-up, payment is processed by our payment partner (Instamojo). We receive confirmation details such as the payment reference and the email used at checkout. We do not collect or store your card, UPI, or bank-account details.
- Usage & device data — basic technical information such as log data and general usage patterns, used to keep the Service secure and working.
2. How we use your information
- to create and manage your account and provide the Service;
- to process your chats through AI and voice providers so your companions can respond;
- to activate and manage your plans, credits, and voice minutes;
- to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service;
- to respond to your requests and support queries; and
- to comply with applicable legal obligations.
3. AI processing of your messages
To generate companion responses, your messages and companion settings are processed by trusted third-party AI and voice technology providers. This processing is necessary to deliver the core functionality of the Service. We do not sell your conversations, and we only share what is required to generate responses.
4. When we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with service providers who help us run the Service, and only to the extent necessary:
- Payment processing — Instamojo, to accept and confirm your payments.
- AI & voice providers — to generate text and voice responses from your companions.
- Cloud hosting & storage — to host the Service and securely store your account data and content.
- Legal & safety — where required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.
5. Data retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and thereafter only as required to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data as described below.
6. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or withdraw consent for certain processing. To make a request, email us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Note that some data may be retained where the law requires it.
7. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational security measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Cookies & local storage
We use cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage) to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and operate the Service. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but some features may not work correctly without them.
9. Children
The Service is intended only for individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
11. Grievance officer & contact
If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints about this Policy or how we handle your data, please contact our grievance/support team at [email protected]. In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules thereunder, we will acknowledge and endeavour to resolve valid complaints within the timelines prescribed under applicable law.
